Mount Barker United Soccer Club

On Friday 24th, about 50 club members when to see Adelaide United play Perth Glory at Hindmarsh stadium.

Mario Zinchiri entered our club into the 'Grass Root for Goals', which Hyundai sponsored. Mario went down before the match along with 4 other players from our club to receive the cheque for $1000.00.

The game was a thrilling match with many chances for both teams to score. Adelaide held possession of the ball for most of the

match. It was late in the second half when the home team scored, the crowd of 13000 jumped to their feet and roared with excitement. The score was 1-0 which meant MBUSC had $2000 from Grass Root For Goals.

In the space of the next 3 minutes, our forward was awarded a penalty, the penalty was taken by Sergio van Dijk, putting the the game out of reach for Perth and another $1000 in the kitty for MBUSC, none were more ecstatic than people from MBUSC as it is some much more that a winning goal.  The game went into 3 minutes of extra time, but the Glory has nothing left in the tank.
